Ready to Rent
Posted byReady to Rent is an innovative new programme through which students’ unions are delivering tenant training workshops to student renters on their campuses. The programme has been created by NUS, with the support of the TDS Charitable Foundation.
The training is hands-on and interactive, and helps to empower students to become more active and informed as tenants, both individually and as a collective. We believe that this has the potential to generate real change in the private rented sector.
The training focuses on:
- What to look for and steer clear of when house-hunting
- What signing a contract means, and what should and shouldn’t be in it
- Students’ rights as tenants and how to assert them
- The power of linking up with other renters
About the funder
This project is kindly funded by the TDS Charitable Foundation, which works to advance education about housing rights and obligations, with a particular focus on:
- Best practice in the management of private rented housing
- Legal rights and obligations of those involved in the provision or management of private rented housing
- Using alternative dispute resolution for more efficient and effective resolution of disputes between landlords and tenants.
